We’re looking for amazing people! Come join Virginia Housing as Deputy Chief Counsel. This important role will combine skill and legal experience with sound business acumen and knowledge of Virginia Housing's mission, goals and objectives to assess legal, business and reputational risk and tailor legal advice and documentation to address that risk. Serves on Virginia Housing's Leadership Team. Has supervisory responsibility for the legal aspects of programmatic (Homeownership, Rental Housing, Federal Programs) and also operational and administrative functions (bond issuance, procurement, information security and enterprise risk).

Responsibilities will include:

• Serving on the Leadership Team.
• Providing legal counsel and advice to Virginia Housing’s programmatic and operational areas.
• Managing a team of attorneys, paralegals and other real estate, business and financial professionals.
• Other duties and special projects as assigned by Chief Counsel.

Qualified candidates must possess J.D. degree from a law school accredited by the American Association of Law Schools and be licensed by the Virginia State Bar and in good standing. At least 10+ years of progressive responsible work experience as a licensed attorney with relevant duties, including experience in complex commercial transactions, managing legal risks, and negotiating complex agreements and financial instruments. Prior managerial experience of attorneys and other real estate and business professionals required.

Hiring Range: $208,727- $271,343

Per Executive Directive #18, effective September 1, 2021, Virginia Housing associates are required to disclose their vaccination status to Human Resources as a condition of employment.
