SEO’s purpose is to provide holistic student-centered programs and services that
enhance student life and create lasting memories through community engagement,
connection building, and creative exploration.

This position is grant funded and employment duration is not subject for renewal next year.

SUMMARY: Under the direct supervision of the Director of Student Engagement and Outreach (SEO) and the Food Pantry Coordinator, the Food Pantry Assistant helps the ASI Food Pantry Coordinator with daily operations at the ASI Food Pantry, inclusive but not limited to stocking inventory, assisting customers, assisting with donation drives, and working with volunteers.


  • Assist with regular operations of the ASI Food Pantry, provides a welcoming atmosphere for Pantry visitors, uses OneCard system to verify eligibility according to the guidelines
  • Maintains high level of confidentiality and respect for pantry users
  • Refers students to additional resources as needed
  • Assists with maintaining and stocking food pantry shelves and the food pantry storage room
  • Supports the ASI Pop Up Pantry with set-up and take-down, as necessary
  • Works in partnership with Food Pantry volunteers and interns
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse student population, ASI programs and on-campus departments

  • Experience in leadership or management
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Work collaboratively with a diverse student population, ASI programs and on campus departments


  • Enrolled in a minimum of 6 units at Sacramento State; maintain a minimum 2.0 GPA overall (for Student Assistant incumbents)
  • Possess or ability to obtain ServSafe Food Handlers Certification within the first month of employment (cost covered by ASI)
  • Experience on windows-based personal computers using Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Publisher and Power point
  • Ability to multi-task and manage time effectively
  • Ability to lift, move and/or carry up to 50 pounds
