Vista Global Solutions (VGS) is looking for a qualified Senior Systems Engineer for Storage Area Network (SAN) systems design, engineering and planning support at the Brooke Army Medical Center, located on Joint Base San Antonio-Fort Sam Houston, in San Antonio, TX.

 

Job description

We’re seeking a Senior Systems Engineer to provide long range planning, oversight and SAN integration • Provide hardware/software deployment planning, oversight and integration • Provide systems security architecture • Document actions where applicable in government System of Record (ServiceNow).

 

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Maintain and support the Microsoft operating systems, storage and services for servers/SANs.
  • Troubleshoot all aspects of problems associated with servers/SANS.
  • Design and configure Microsoft servers and Storage Area Networks (SANs).
  • Install and configure applications on servers/SANs.
  • Install all required operating system, security and virus software, patches and updates on servers IAW with cybersecurity directives.
  • Support server database and design.
  • Update/enter additional information and solutions relevant to service requests and tasking using Government ticketing system, and participate in the flow of information by documenting more complex solutions, or verbally apprising the IM leadership of less complex solutions.
  • Generate any unique scripts necessary to support server/SAN functions.
  • Support virtual server consolidation, design and implementation.
  • Maintain the existing disaster recovery plan and shall restore data upon requests.
  • Provide input and consultation on issues involving communications between servers and systems.
  • Provide written communications (i.e., recommendations, surveys, procedures, standards, etc.); all command files, source code, object files, libraries, executable images, other computer files created, and all procedures and checklists developed to facilitate the management of the systems.
  • Perform on-call duty on evenings, weekends, and holidays to provide guidance and support to customer support technicians on resolution of program/applications problems and/or failures, and may be required to return to the work site to resolve critical problems. Contractor shall submit overtime documentation to the first line supervisor for review, then Government will send documentation to COR for approval.

Qualifications:

  • MCSE Enterprise Administrator or current version with a minimum of five (5) years of experience in administration and support of Microsoft operating systems on servers/systems in a large enterprise medical environment.
  • Experience with scientific and medical applications as they relate to clinical information systems.
  • Microsoft engineering expertise in currently available operating systems, SCCM, Active Directory, Disaster Recovery and SQL/Oracle server in order to provide the highest levels of security, reliability, and scalability for critical applications.
  • Meet the requirements for an IAT Level II position as defined in DOD 8570-01-M.
