Visitor Services - Rangos Representative is responsible for participating in all levels of visitor service at the Rangos concessions stand, lobby, and inside the theater. Duties include greeting patrons and answering questions concerning the facility; proactively engaging visitors in dialogue in order to promote food and beverage products and ensure an excellent theater experience; selling food and drink items at the concessions stand; assisting individuals and groups with entry and seating into the theater; balancing cash drawer; keeping workspaces clean, orderly, well-stocked and presentable at all times; and participating in all levels of customer service and programming to achieve excellence in the theater and throughout Kamin Science Center. 

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

  • High school diploma or the equivalent required.
  • Exceptional customer service skills needed.
  • One year of experience with handling cash required.
  • Prefer one-year related work experience.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Standing for long periods of time

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Provide the highest level of customer service to visitors at the concession stand, lobby and inside the theater at all times.
  • Provide excellent service to visitors in other areas of KSC.
  • Proactively greet customers in a friendly and efficient manner; answer questions, explain programming and food and beverage options, and assist with show and concessions selections.
  • Provide fast, friendly and efficient service to all visitors at all times.
  • Act to resolve visitor concerns or complaints, maintaining a courteous and gracious manner.
  • Promote sales of all food and beverage items by suggestively selling items and ensuring that all items are properly displayed at all times.
  • Successfully modify sales and service technique and speed to most effectively meet the needs of the visitor volume.  
  • Prepare food and drink items at concession stand and constantly monitor accessible stock to ensure that all varieties of concession items are available for sale at all times.
  • Constantly monitor all food and drink preparation and storage systems to ensure proper operation and cooling/heating of product.
  • Follow prescribed health code standards for preparing and serving food items.
  • Maintain proper attire and grooming as to meet aforementioned codes.
  • Successfully operate point of sale cash register with strong attention to detail and proper cash handling techniques at all times.
  • Take routine precaution when making change for customers, entering tender type into register and protecting security of credit card numbers, paperwork, etc.
  • Assist in maintaining an orderly and efficient queuing area in Rangos lobby.
  • Assist visitors with entry into the theater, taking tickets, directing to appropriate seating.
  • Provide any seating service needed to visitors with special needs.
  • Assist visitors with exit of theater, providing any necessary assistance.
  • Provide projectionists with support as needed.
  • Provide support, guidance and issue resolution for visitors before during and after show.
  • Keep knowledgeable of current changes and events within the Science Center in order to answer questions, cross sell services and programs; and meet the goals and objectives of the Visitor Services department and the Science Center.
  • Attend scheduled Visitor Services meetings and training sessions.
  • Serve as a backup for other divisions within the Science Center, on an as needed basis.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

The following PA Act 153 clearances, or proof of application of clearances, are required beginning employment and as a condition of continued employment: Pennsylvania Child Abuse History Clearance Pennsylvania State Police Criminal Record Check FBI Fingerprint Criminal Background Check Obtaining the required clearances is completed as part of the new hire process.
