TITLE: Facilities Manager

REPORTS TO: General Manager, AGM of Technical
DIRECT REPORTS: Facilities Supervisor, Facilities Technicians


Role & Responsibilities

  • Supports and partners with the General Manager and Assistant General Managers to assure a smooth operation of the venue. 

  • Assures a high-quality, uniform experience to each of our 1,000+ guests each day. 

  • Maintains rigorous corporate standards in aesthetics, guest experience, personnel management, and all other aspects of the business to assure a positive and consistent guest experience from start to finish. 

  • Leads and inspires the Facilities team, by taking a forward-thinking approach to the venue’s experience and cultivating an environment that is engaging and inspiring to guests and staff alike. 

  • Acts as a brand ambassador reflective of the company’s values and demonstrates exemplary customer service, leading by example.

People & Development

  • Provides meaningful feedback, sets clear objectives and expectations to the Facilities Supervisor and Facilities Technicians.

  • Upholds policies and standards for all team members across the board; specifically develops, coaches and counsels the Facilities team. 

  • Executes meetings that are well-planned, collaborative, educational and motivational.

  • Delegates tasks, follows up and holds the Facilities team accountable for their performance (including attendance and professionalism). 

  • Encourages and demonstrates adaptability by positively effecting change and enabling the team to successfully execute a shared vision.

Aesthetic Understanding & Application

  • Maintains museum-quality aesthetics in all guest-facing installations and features.

  • Ability to foresee maintenance needs and plan ahead with the right tools, people, and materials for the job at hand.

  • Has an eye for aesthetics and takes personal responsibility for preserving existing brand standards (i.e. maintains a clean and organized atmosphere for the guest) while innovating, improving, and adapting standards and processes, as needed.

  • Inspires the Facilities team to take entrepreneurial ownership of the facilities and uphold the brand’s vision and aesthetic established by the creative team.

  • Develops and executes build-out proposals with an established timeline and budget.

  • Troubleshoots and develops long-term solutions for operational challenges and technical issues that affect the overall guest experience. 

Vendor Partnerships 

  • Builds and maintains positive relationships with vendors and contractors, and ensures follow through is done in a timely manner. 

  • Coordinates and schedules contractor walkthroughs and inspections. 

  • Maintains up-to-date vendor logs and contact information.

  • Works closely with multiple subcontractors to ensure all staff, guests, and facility needs are met, and terms of the contracts are followed. 

General Maintenance, Facilities, and Venue Upkeep

  • Upholds facilities and maintenance of the venue (i.e. installations, food stations, restrooms, facade and back of house) is kept and polished.

  • Ensures proper service and maintenance of all audio and visual aspects of the venue.

  • Troubleshoots and oversees proper functionality of all IT systems in the venue.

  • Project manages repairs, improvements, and updates to the venue. 

  • Maintains proper safety and sanitary protocols and procedures.


  • 3+ years of relevant leadership experience in a demanding, high-volume environment with a large team.

  • Must have strong assessment, decision-making, written and verbal communication skills.

  • Must be inclusive and discerning

  • Must have experience in mediation and effective conflict resolution.

  • Ability to maintain a high level of professionalism and confidentiality. 

  • Must have open availability (including holidays & weekends). 

  • Must have a strong understanding of proper repair and maintenance concepts. 

  • Must have a working knowledge or understanding of basic hand and power tools. 

About Color Factory:

Color Factory is a collaborative interactive exhibit that debuted in San Francisco in August 2017. What was intended as a month-long run unexpectedly flourished as a celebration of color and creativity that lasted for another eight sold-out months. We have since opened our flagship in New York City in August 2018, where we’ve seen consistently sold-out crowds. In 20,000 square feet, we feature brand-new participatory installations of colors we’ve collected around the city— hues that invite curiosity, discovery and play.

In October 2019, we opened in Houston, Texas. Some of our favorite artists, creatives, designers and makers have teamed up with us to tell their unique color stories and engage all of the senses in unexpected ways.

Color Factory provides a unique experience carefully designed to be enjoyed by all ages. Through guided activities, interactive installations, and special treats and surprises we hope to connect our guests to the colorful moments within our communities and in their own daily lives.
