This position is a part of the Risk Management department. Our risk professionals are tasked with identifying revenue opportunities and risk trends by monitoring the performance of our existing portfolio, growth opportunities, and general market trends. We develop and implement strategies for credit line increases, authorizations, collection, fraud, retention, and the sale of revenue based products.

The AVP, Monitoring & Forecasting is part of the Balance Growth team within Risk Management. The Balance Growth team oversees all aspects of risk management including P&L oversight, strategy development, credit underwriting, statistical modeling, and data analytics relating to Credit Line Increases, Convenience Checks, Balance Transfers, and Authorizations.

 

The AVP, Monitoring & Forecasting provides leadership and strategic direction to a team responsible for forecasting Balance Growth financial performance and provides insights to predict favorable business outcomes. The ideal candidate for this position will be experienced in leading a team and must have a deep understanding of qualitative and quantitative forecasting methods for credit cards; and be well versed in presenting to Senior Leaders and providing strategic insights through sound and accurate analysis.

Summary of Essential Job Functions

 

  • Gather and monitor daily portfolio KPIs and consumer trends and activities in order to drive pro-active and re-active responses to improve portfolio performance.
  • Lead financial analysts who are focused on creating reports and models and are providing advanced analysis of credit risk day-to-day performance.
  • Manage the monthly Balance Growth P&L process and prepare material for Executive review and signoff
  • Be technically adept to identify and implement process improvements
  • Understand drivers and variances in order to enhance forecasting accuracy
  • Lead monthly financial reviews and forecasting meetings with Risk department leaders.
  • Present to senior risk management on the analytical work of the portfolio monitoring and forecasting team
  • Serve as an expert consultant to senior management on highly complex issues.
  • Anticipate issues based on knowledge of business trends and proposing direction and solutions.
  • Provide insights and data-driven recommendations regarding potential strategy changes for the programs.
  • Serve a subject matter expert regarding portfolio revenue, loss rate calculations, forecasting, credit bureau attributes, P&L drivers, and portfolio scores.  
  • Manage and develop direct reports.

 

Position Requirements

 

  • Minimum of 6 years in banking or credit cards with 3+ years of relevant credit and portfolio risk analysis
  • Masters degree in a quantitative area such as finance, economics, mathematics, or statistics is required.
  • Strong financial analysis skills with the ability to read, interpret, and evaluate, financial time-series tracking reports (including vintage analysis). 
  • Fundamental knowledge of credit scoring, credit underwriting, and credit risk
    management. 
  • Advanced technical competencies using SAS Enterprise Guide and Miner and/or SQL, Excel and Tableau are required.
  • Effective data mining skills and the ability to explain changing data dynamics.
