Position Summary
The Director of Marketing, Packaging will work across business units to identify opportunities, create the optimal marketing plan for each product line and business and develop sales and distribution strategies as appropriate to drive breakthrough growth. The Director of Marketing, Packaging will play a significant role in the strategic planning process. They will have responsibility for full P&L, including pricing, spending, and cost improvement. Must be a leader for the business and the organization, a passionate advocate of the consumer, and a result orientated change agent for the brand.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
- Drive annual strategic planning process for designated categories/product lines including Situation Assessments, Competitive Analysis and Opportunity Identification and Prioritization to develop the 5-year strategic plan
- Develop AOP and associated budget and manage/reconcile monthly
- Identify white space opportunities and prioritize the addressable market and lead generation
- Build product innovation roadmap in concert with cross functional partners and lead development and implementation with R&D and PMO teams
- Develop subject matter expertise surrounding sustainability in each category and how to win
- Develop the necessary personas and path to purchase for each product line
- Lead the development of commercial marketing plans to support key strategic priorities and monitor performance against outlined objectives
- Lead the development of necessary selling materials, training, trend information, market research and customer presentations to support the sales team in their respective markets, ensuring that all materials are best in class
- Set commercial priorities and KPIs to measure performance based on segment revenue, profitability, and growth
- Define the appropriate product mix per market, managing new item introductions and sku rationalizations to optimize the portfolio performance
- Monitor market trends and anticipate risks/opportunities and develop recommended action plans to address
Education and Experience
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field required; MBA preferred
Experience/Knowledge
- Experience with Rigid Packaging a must
- Experience in Healthcare/Medical channels a must
- A track record in marketing with experience launching or building new brands
- Understanding of the eco-friendly sector and what drives decision-making in both industrial and consumer products
- Experience working in a matrixed environment, across divisions and functions
- Practical experience running marketing programs that have successfully scaled
- Experience as a change agent leading a rapidly growing organization or initiative
- Broad functional experience in strategic planning and marketing, business and market development, market research and communications
- Success leading teams and enabling the growth of profitable and innovative products
- Strong communication and presentation skills, and experience translating product, trend and merchandising data to tell a compelling story
- Experience managing outside vendors including advertising agencies
Physical Requirements
- Sitting at workstation approximately85 (eighty-five) percent of work time.
- Standing and walking approximately 10%(ten) percent of work time.
- Must be able to travel up to 25%(twenty-five) percent of work time.
- Ability to work overtime or occasionally on weekends with short notice.
- Typical office environment with shelves overhead and above work surfaces.
