Skid Steer Team Leader

 

Position Purpose

This position is responsible for assisting in the management and leadership of the Skid Steer Team. The individual will work with other Team Leaders, Group Leaders in the SSL group and other area leaders to support the Assembly function and ensure business success.

Major Tasks, Responsibilities & Key Accountabilities

  • Assist team members to make sure daily production targets are met
  • Support ongoing initiatives by ensuring all team members are updated and informed regularly
  • Understand and drive the JCB quality standards within the area(s) including coaching team members to do the same
  • Understand the JCB Production System to ensure continuous improvement through Kaizen and 5S
  • Take initiative to assist Group Leaders and Management effectively manage budgeted resources by analyzing problem areas and actively pursuing and encouraging cost savings
  • Ensure that you and your team understand and use safe systems of work in the area and follow company environmental practices
  • Ensure that proper training for all team members is maintained
  • Provide feedback to Group Leader and Management on the successes and challenges met in the group
  • Assist in the recognition of team member initiatives that positively drive the business forward

 

Nature & Scope

Reports to the Skid Steer Group Leader.

 

Minimum Qualifications

  • 2+ years of experience within a manufacturing environment
  • Associate degree or equivalent technical training in manufacturing
  • Understand the JCB Production System
  • Be familiar with 5S, Kaizen and other lean manufacturing practices
  • Cannot be currently on a Corrective Action Plan
  • Must pass any drug screens, background checks and any pre-employments tests as applicable

 

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Competencies

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with all levels within an organization 
  • Ability to influence and manage change within the business, promoting creative problem solving and continuous improvement
  • Ability to develop and motivate others
    • Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and SAP
    • Knowledge and ability to operate in a paint manufacturing environment
    • Effective communication and problem-solving skills
    • Knowledge and experience in capacity planning and scheduling workload requirements
    • Detail oriented and self-motivated
    • Multi-task while maintaining a sense of urgency
  • Flexibility with work activities; available for overtime.
  • Must wear Personal Protective Equipment as required

Job Conditions:       

  • Both office environment and manufacturing/factory environment
  • Subject to noise and temperature changes

  • Must be able to grasp/pinch small items, reach out and up, and turn wrist
  • Must be capable of keeping pace with current production speed
  • Must be able to push/pull with reasonable force
  • Must be able to perform the following requirements of bending, stooping, climbing, kneeling, and standing for extended periods of time
  • Must be able to work in multiple climates including:  hot/cold temperatures, and dusty environment
