This position is directly responsible for leading a dedicated team of planning specialists to meet on-time delivery to production schedule, highlight risks, and manage Key performance Indicators for their team. This position offers challenging opportunities requiring quick thinking and problem solving to support manufacturing operations. Reports directly to the Materials Manager.

Major Tasks, Responsibilities & Key Accountabilities

  • Directly responsible for providing leadership, direction, and resolution for G&D material planning team.

  • Responsible for leading a team of material planners, managing risks, and assessing key performance indicators.

  • Provides meaningful and timely feedback on employee’s performance including completing and conducting annual performance appraisals and developing training plans.

  • Responsible for providing direction, and support, to team-members for the purpose of managing individual part parameters to meet on-time delivery to internal, and external, stakeholders.

  • Provides timely status to management of the status of work in progress, material availability and potential production problems to ensure that material issues supporting operations is mitigated

  • Coordinate with internal departments including Procurement, Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing Operations, New Product Introduction (NPI), Production Control, Logistics, finance, and Part Services to advance company mission

  • Serve as the escalation point of contact between planners and suppliers and help resolve issues

  • Implement, and refine, processes to ensure that deliverables meet production schedule requirements

  • Participate in cross-functional process improvements Supporting Kaizen (Continuous Improvement) and

  • Provides feedback to management concerning overall team-member performance and health of organization    

Minimum Qualifications

  • Must pass any drug screens, background checks and any pre-employments tests as applicable

  • High school diploma

  • Proficiency using SAP / ERP

  • Five (3-5) years experience in a Production planning role

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in related field

  • Six Sigma / Lean process training a plus

  • Minimum of three (3) years’ experience in a material planning supervisor role

  • Planning experience in a manufacturing environment, consignment/subcontracting operations

  • Strong organizational and communication (both verbal and written) skills

  • Strong analytical skills

  • Self-starter, flexible and capable of managing multiple tasks

  • Strong interpersonal/leadership qualities working in a team environment

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Competencies

  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret engineering drawings

  • Very analytical with strong skills in Microsoft programs including Excel, PowerPoint, and SAP

  • Effective communication and problem-solving skills

  • Excellent time management and planning skills

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment

  • Ability to work in a team and autonomously

  • Multi-task while maintaining a sense of urgency

  • Must wear Personal Protective Equipment as required    

Physical Requirements

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand and walk and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to lift up to 30 pounds

  • Typical indoor manufacturing environment. The noise level is usually moderate to high and hearing protection may be required on the production floor. Safety glasses are required on the production floor. Some out-of-town travel is required. Occasional weekend work required.
