News Video Producer
Capital Newspapers with daily papers in Portage, Beaver Dam and Baraboo is seeking an online video producer to join our newsroom with a background in print and/or broadcast journalism. The ideal candidate will be efficient at generating video ideas, editing and working with newsroom staffers to create and produce new video content.
Must be willing to work and live in coverage area which includes Dodge, Columbia and Sauk counties in south central Wisconsin. Requires a valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle.
The candidate will post and promote videos on wiscnews.com and our social media platforms. The candidate must be comfortable using multiple DSLR cameras to produce videos.
The ideal candidate will possess the following skills:
Video portfolio demonstrating a range of video
Video storytelling editing skills
Strong journalism ethics
Excellent communication skills - written and verbal
Strong news judgment
Proficiency in managing social media to promote work
Willingness to work all shifts when needed.
Some assignments require walking, carrying camera and video gear in extreme weather.
Four-year college degree and/or 3-5 years of experience as a visual journalist.
