The Southern Illinoisan is looking for a full-time courts and criminal justice multimedia journalist to work for our award-winning daily newspaper.  This role will also take on general assignments as needed.

We're looking for a person with digital-first mindset, a strong work ethic and a team-player attitude.  Urgency and accuracy in breaking news are musts, along with a strong desire to be the first on the scene when news breaks.

The ideal candidate will be skilled in photography, videography and social media.  We want a critical thinker - someone able to spot trends, track cops and courts coverage, and tackle hard-hitting investigative projects.

This reporter will have opportunities to report on meaningful stories of local importance with our talented newsroom staff and with a team with Lee Enterprises' other Illinois and greater Midwestern news markets.

Experience at a daily or community news outlet is preferred.
