The Lee Digital Content Center seeks a strong journalist with solid technology skills to take over one of the most innovative roles in our company: local content automation manager.


In this position, you work with in-house developers and outside vendors to develop data-driven content and products using natural language generation, among other tools. Experience with APIs, structured data and content management systems all will be essential. You do not need to write code, but you must be able to work effectively with colleagues who do.


Lee's Digital Content Center is a small group of innovators who think big, working to transform the local newspaper business to digital platforms for an audience of loyal, local visitors. Responsibilities:
 

-Locate and leverage databases to create local content at broad scale across our 70+ markets.

-Manage processes and monitor results for quality and accuracy. Continually iterate improvements based on feedback from audience and editors.

-Work collaboratively with marketing, programming and other departments to seamlessly generate and syndicate content that captures audience attention.

-Become a go-to expert in our platforms and tools, especially our CMS and its integrations.

-Propose and execute programs to grow audience engagement and interaction online through data-driven journalism.

-Contribute to broader Digital Content Center projects and priorities as needed.


Qualifications:

-Bachelor's degree in journalism, computer science, or related field.

-Experience with content management systems, website or application development, database management and/or API interfaces is required.

-Experience with natural-language generation tools is preferred but not required.


The Lee Digital Content Center is based in Madison, WI. Remote work is possible with this position, preferably in or near one of our markets.
