Research Project Coordinator

Job Summary

The La Jolla Institute is seeking a motivated and organized individual to play a key role in coordinating multiple National Institutes of Health research grants. The Project Coordinator will work closely with the principal investigator (lead researcher), as well as the administrative team, to ensure that details of the projects are organized and successfully executed. This is an excellent opportunity to grow into a project management role, as well as a unique chance to work with some of the world’s most influential scientists in the fields of cancer and immunology. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities 

The project coordinator will serve as a resource for various project activities, both internally and externally. Primary responsibilities include coordination of overall project activity, documenting progress via regular status reports, managing logistics including meetings, presentations, and seminars, managing budgets, and preparing and submitting documents scientific publications and conferences. Excellent writing and editing skills are essential. 

The successful candidate will have excellent written, communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills, and be highly motivated to learn quickly in order to become an actively contributing member of the team. 

Leveling Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree

• At least one year of related experience

• Able to think critically and solve problems

• Excellent time management and organizational skills

• Highly proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint

• Ability to work with a diverse set of communities – researchers, administrators, technical staff, and programmers, to solve problems and build consensus

• Knowledge of scientific writing and editing are a plus.
