Utilizes physical labor to assist in water and wastewater line repairs and replacement, excavation, meter installation and taps. Operates heavy equipment, specialty equipment (vactor trucks, etc.), manages materials and supervise crew members in the absence of a crew leader. Ensures safety policies and procedures are followed.  
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Repairs water and wastewater mains; cleans and prepares pipe for repairs; installs repair parts and evaluates effectiveness of repair
  • Installs wastewater taps, water taps and meters; prepares pipe and fittings, tap main by hand/or machine and installs service to property line
  • Assists in excavation; operates air hammer to break rock and asphalt; uses pick and shovel to remove dirt and rock for hole; uses probe to locate pipe
  • Cleans wastewater lines; uses hand and/or machine rods to unclog or clean main
  • Miscellaneous jobs; installs fire hydrants, valves, manholes and clean outs and other jobs as assigned
  • Cleans, maintains tools and equipment
  • Loads and unloads trucks
  • Performs other duties as assigned  
Minimum Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • 1 year of experience in utility construction experience
  • 1 year of experience operating construction equipment (dump trucks, backhoes, loaders, etc.)
 Preferred Qualifications
  • 1 year of experience operating specialty utility equipment (vacuum truck, CCTV inspection, etc.) 
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations   
  • Valid class A CDL with tanker endorsement
  • Class C water distribution and Class II wastewater collection licenses
