SUMMARY:

The Manufacturing Engineering and Maintenance Manager position is responsible for implementing lean manufacturing principals across this facility. This person will also be responsible for the development of lean, highly-efficient, manufacturing processes and will drive continuous improvement in areas of cost, quality, safety, lead time, and use of working capital.

 

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Lead teams to develop safe, lean, highly-efficient, world-class manufacturing processes
  • Support manufacturing teams to implement common manufacturing processes and share best practices
  • Development and execution of project planning
  • Evaluation of tools and equipment options for reduced costs
  • Generate and maintain annual maintenance budget, managing expenses within approved budget constraints
  • Reviews requests for maintenance and prioritizes tasks based on urgency, resources, and staffing
  • Provide requests for investments in machinery, building, or other expenses that will improve manufacturing operations
  • Monitor production processes closely to identify mechanical and electrical reliability
  • Develop and oversee implementation plans for projects, improvements, and personnel development
  • Work closely with product teams, production control, purchasing, operations and other departments for efficient execution of lean processes
  • Implement and support lean manufacturing principles such as: visual controls, pull inventory systems, workplace organization, and continuous improvement
  • Coordinate with vendors and maintenance improvement projects
  • Provide technical support for production operations including: tooling, fixtures, and processes for utilizing new and existing systems and procedures
  • Support lean manufacturing events
  • Asisst with plant layouts
  • Keep management updated with project statuses, feedback, and approporiate reporting on select projects through tracking system and management/project reviews
  • Lead a motivated associate team through principles of trust, teamwork, accountability, self-confidence, and business leadership
  • Drive improvements in quality, warranty, master scheduling, and continuous improvement
  • Support other leaders through organizational changes and interventions
  • Actively lead teams and provide individual contributions in problem solving efforts to improve quality, reduce cost, improve cycle time, reduce scrap and rework
  • Communicate with and assist cross-functional teams such as: engineering, materials, purchasing, sales

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical/Manufactuing/Industrial Engineering
  • 10+ years of relevant experience, with 3+ years as an operational leader
  • Experience managing P&L, understanding the impact of lean manufacturing tools
  • Experience across several functions of the value stream — engineering, sales, purchasing
  • Demonstates emotional intelligence, presence, energy, passion humility, and adaptability
  • Experience working in a low volume.high variation manufacturing setting
  • Experience working in a Toyota Production System type environment, or equivalent
  • Knowledge of CNC machining, fabrication, paint, assembly, construction, and lean manufacturing
  • Proven ability to handle multiple projects and meet deadlines
  • Self-motivated and on-task with team mindset
  • Experience using computers for Microsoft Office Suite and computer-aided design systems like SolidWorks or AutoCAD
  • Sound judgment with the ability to make timely, difficult decisions
  • Versatile, flexible, and willing to work with new situations and information as priorities change
  • Ability to contribute in a collaborative environment, using teamwork and interpersonal skills to communicate and persuade customers, employees and management at all levels
  • Demonstrate ability to bring the benefits of DMAIC and DFSS to solve business issues while also magaing risk and cost
  • Excellent communication skills, verbal and written, with internal and external customers
