Summary:
 

Under the general supervision of the Director of Logistics and External Relations, the Facility Manager performs a variety of work in the maintenance and repair of buildings and grounds of various facilities. One primary goals of Superior Air-Ground Ambulance to provide high quality support to the employees it serves. Such a level of quality depends ultimately on the staff's desire and ability to work together, individually, and as a team. The employee is expected to be professional, punctual, maintain regular attendance, cooperative, organized, and enthusiastic at all times.

 

Major Duties and Responsibilities:
 

  • Develop and implement a facility management program including preventative maintenance and life-cycle requirements
  • Conduct and document regular facilities inspections to include picture reports
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety standards and industry codes
  • Allocate and manage facility space for maximum efficiency
  • Supervise maintenance and repair of facilities and equipment
  • Oversee facility refurbishment and renovations
  • Plan and manage facility central services such as security, cleaning, waste disposal and parking
  • Obtain quotes and tenders from vendors and suppliers
  • Calculate and compare costs for goods and services to maximize cost-effectiveness
  • Negotiate and manage contracts to optimize delivery and cost saving
  • Manage contractor and vendor relationships
  • Manage and review service contracts to ensure facility management needs are being met
  • Check completed work by contractors and vendors and authorize step payments when warranted
  • Verify payment and invoicing match contract pricing
  • Ensure efficient utilization of facility maintenance staff
  • Generate and present regular reports and reviews of facility-related budgets, finances, contracts, expenditures and purchases including estimated major upcoming repairs
  • Develop and implement cost reduction initiatives
  • Advise on and monitor energy efficiency
  • Assure security of the facility
  • Respond to facility and equipment alarms and system failures even during off hours when situations warrant them
  • Provide prompt response to requests and issues from facility occupants
  • Work within budget constraints

Qualifications:
 

·   Bachelor’s degree in Facilities Management, Facilities Engineering or related qualification such as project management, business management or construction management. Experience in lieu of Bachelor’s degree will be considered

·   Knowledge of principles and practices of project management

·   Knowledge of principles and practices of business administration

·   Knowledge of financial principles and practices

·   Knowledge of electrical and mechanical systems

·   Knowledge of procurement and contracts

·   Knowledge of health, safety and environmental regulations

·   Experience in construction, maintenance and all facets of facility operation

·   Supervisory experience

·   Computer and systems knowledge 

Physical Requirements:
 

·    Occasionally:  kneeling, stooping, stretching, bending, leaning; must be able to lift up to 75 pounds.

·    Frequently:  hearing/listening, clear speech, reaching, touching, typing

  •    Prompt and regular attendance at work.

·    Ability to perform visual inspections.

·    Must have a valid driver’s license.

 

Working Environment:
 

Works outdoors and indoors with occasional exposure to hazardous conditions and to blood/body fluids, fumes/odors, extended day, and temperature changes.  Frequently works with others, face-to-face contact with others with exposure to noise, mechanical equipment, and electrical equipment.
