The Salvation Army, an internationally recognized non-profit, faith-based organization, has openings for a Boys and Girls Club Program Aide within the Boys and Girls Clubs, located in Port Arthur. The role is Summer position from June 1 to July 30.
 

Job Summary
Assists in facilitating and monitoring recreational activities of the BGC; provides constant care for the needs for the needs of the children; supervises and coaches sporting events; transports patrons to and from the BGC; assists in maintaining the BGC facilities, equipment, and grounds.
 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities                                          
Knowledge of the standard rules and techniques of athletic sports such as baseball, basketball and football. Ability to build effective and positive relationships with people of all ages. Ability to lead and motivate people participating in recreational activities. Ability to lead and participate in recreational and/or sports programs.
 

Education and Experience
High school diploma or G.E.D. required, and One to two years’ experience teaching child development programs, or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities and Ability to pass all state licensing background checks.
 

Licenses and Certifications                                                                             

Valid State Drivers License
Valid Class B CDL (or ability to obtain within established timeframe)
First Aid and CPR Certifications (or ability to obtain within established timeframe)
Food Handler’s Certification (or ability to obtain within established timeframe)

 

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions 

Ability to meet attendance requirements. Ability to read, write and communicate the English language effectively. Ability and willingness to conduct all duties in accordance with the ministry of the organization and its Christian principles; conducts all communications and job duties with the highest level of professionalism. Duties are usually performed by a combination of sitting, standing, walking, and/or driving a vehicle. Moderate amount of physical effort required associated with walking, standing, lifting, and carrying light or moderately heavy objects (less than 50 lbs.) occasionally.
