IT Systems Specialist
POSITION SUMMARY:
Provides technical support to field staff in the use/application of computer technology for the daily functional activities of their respective departments. Answers questions, resolve complaints, repairs equipment, changes software configurations, installs new hardware and peripherals, completes service requests and other duties. May also design, code, and test computer programs to interface with specific products. Troubleshoot VoIP/telephony problems and assists in the coordination of IT projects.

- Provides technical support and problem-solving assistance to all computer users at the command via telephone or on-site visits
- Troubleshoot problems associated with the Windows, Office 365, SharePoint, and Internet interface
- Perform periodic maintenance procedures to ensure computer longevity and create a “user-friendly” experience
- Install and set up various software applications and upgrades and test installations to ensure proper functioning
- Prioritize repair work to meet needs of users, and informs users of progress or status of repairs
- Report all hardware issues requiring manufacturer or the vendor to DHQ
- Maintain awareness of computer capabilities and technical advancements as upgrades become available
- Maps users to shared network resources
- Monitor, report, and/or repair wireless access points in coordination with DHQ IT department
- Ensures anti-virus software is installed and up to date on all workstations and, remove viral, rogue, and spyware software as necessary
- Maintain an accurate inventory of all IT assets
- Maintain and upgrades professional knowledge, skills, and development by attending seminars and training programs and reading trade and professional journals and publications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
Two-year degree from a technical or vocational school in electronics, computer repair or a related field,
and
two years’ experience performing computer repair work with some experience performing individual and classroom training of computer applications preferred,
or
any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities
LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS:
Valid State Driver's License
One or more relevant certifications are required upon hire
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Knowledge of the capabilities of computers and peripheral devices
- Operational and application knowledge of the databases available to end-users as well as, all versions of WINDOWS and Apple IOS operating systems
- Knowledge of the computer operating systems used by the Information Technology Department to accurately and completely train users in the methods and procedures
- Knowledge of effective presentation skills
- Ability to perform both one-on-one and classroom training of various software applications
- Ability to analyze and resolve problems with hardware and software
- Ability to determine compatibility between various software programs and hardware including networking software
- Ability to lift and carry moderately heavy computer equipment (25-50 lbs.) on a frequent basis
- Physical ability to "team lift" heavy materials, supplies, and equipment (50-100 lbs.) occasionally
- Ability to stoop, crawl and climb when necessary
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Works in a professional office setting. Physical demands include standing, sitting, walking, bending, lifting, and moving computer items as needed.
