SUMMARY: Working at MacDill Air Force base on the USSOCOM Warrior Care Program, the Career Transition Coordinator assist our wounded, ill and injured Special Operations Forces (SOF) service members with their career transition plan before they separate or retire from their military careers. The position is responsible for providing essential and coordinated services assigned to clients in the customer’s program.


Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Manage large SOF Wounded Warrior caseloads while guiding these individuals through the various stages of internship, employment and retraining/education (All Phases).
  • Evaluate and enhance methods used to measure success of transition program; maintain and update metrics for the program and related initiatives (Phase I & All Phases).
  • Manage process for employment assistance; set deadlines and monitor and summarize progress (Phase I and all Phases).
  • Plan, implement, and direct program-related events and meetings with service members and Veterans (Phase I and all).
  • Maintain basic accounting functions for travel conducted in association with the customer’s program (Phase I & All Phases with Government/Customer lead).
  • Interface with appropriate organization representatives, independent contractors, and private sector employers to secure and sustain internship and employment resources (Phase II w/Government/Customer approval).
  • Makes referrals to community organizations for clients. Follows up with clients throughout assistance process to ensure services were provided. Intervenes and acts as an advocate for clients when problems or issues arise as needed (Phase I and all Phases).
  • Documents file / record after verifying client services were received (All Phases)
  • Maintains confidential, accurate, and up-to-date files / records and emails for clients and/or clients, as appropriate (All Phases).
  • Provides exceptional customer-service to clients and/or customer, and contributes to a team-focused, productive, and positive environment (All Phases)
  • Meets deadlines established by the Project and/or Customer Manager (All Phases)
  • Participates in team meetings as scheduled with Project and/or Customer Manager and meets all expectations for meetings (All Phases)
  • Assess operating procedures and prepare recommendations for improvements to the program in writing. (All Phases)
  • Engage potential employers of SOF Wounded Warriors to initiate agreements between SOCOM and private industry for fellowships and/or employment (Phase II and beyond with Government/Customer approval).
  • Establish Memorandums of Agreement (MOAs) with multiple private sector organizations in order to provide legal authority and protections in establishing internships for active duty service members (Phase II and beyond with Government/Customer approval).
  • Coordinate with the Office of the Secretary of Defense’s “Operation Warfighter” placing active duty SOF Wounded Warriors in federal internships (All Phases)
  • Develop and implement components of the customer’s transition program, such as engage in direct interaction applicable military and civilian organizations to further the program’s internship and employment initiatives for clients (Phase II and beyond with Government/Customer approval)
  • Other duties as assigned


  • Associates degree
  • Two or more years of applicable experience working in customer’s operational background
  • Equivalent combination of knowledge and specialized experience may be acceptable in lieu of degree


  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Two or more years of applicable experience working in customer’s operational background
  • Knowledge and experience with MS Office/Windows, Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Self-starter with ability to manage responsibilities with minimal direction from Project Manager
  • Ability to organize, prioritize and meet deadlines
  • Demonstrable record of critical thinking skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication to effectively express concepts, plans, and proposals with professionalism, tact and diplomacy.
  • Ability to interact in a professional manner with all levels of management
  • Ability to appropriately handle confidential information
  • Ability to understand the associated physical and behavioral conditions associated with the population seeking transition services

Clearance: Applicants may be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.
